Chief Kim Dine and Barbara Martin, CEO of Heartly House, were the guest speakers. Our topic was ‘Services for Domestic Violence Victims’. Chief Dine has a distinguished 32 year career in law enforcement. He stated that domestic violence is taken seriously. Special training is provided to officers and the organizations that deal with the victims & abusers.
· Nationally there are 5,000,000 reported cases…85% involve women
· 45% of these result in physical injury to the women
· A large % of the deaths are to prior victims
· Nationally the cost is $8.3 billion
· Nationally we have 3,000,000 cases of child abuse
