Frederick Memorial Healthcare System: is requesting $5000/year for 5 years to fund a prenatal care clinic which is adjacent to the BirthPlace. The funds will be used to offset the estimated net loss of over $300,000 per year, which includes $182,500 for 25% of the cost to have OBs in-house 24/7 for the delivery of unregistered maternity patients. Yearly operating budget for this project is $556,000.
ACTION: The grants committee recommends not funding this project only because it was believed that with the hospital’s budget, grant dollars available for the Women’s Giving Circle could make a larger impact with other organizations with smaller budgets.
